Here are few quotations by dignitaries about ‘NOW’!

Be here Now! Be someplace else later. Is that so complicated – David Baker

If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath – Amit Ray

All the Bliss, Peace & Happiness is to stay in present not dwelling in dead past or worrying about unforeseen future.

Trust not in future however pleasant.

Let the dead past bury its dead.

Act, act in the living present

Heart within and God overhead.

Further it is said that :-

Past is History

Future is Mystery

Present is Treasury

So stay in present! Be here Now!

Present is Parmatman, which is not an entity sitting somewhere in some distant land far far away. He is within all of us and He is here Now. Not only that but “I and my Father are one”.

Life has been compared to

The Clock of life.

The clock of life is wound

But once

And no one has the power

To tell just when the hands

Will stop

At late or early hours,

Now is the only time you own

Live, love, toil with a will

Place no faith in To-morrow for

The Clock may, then be still.

Gurudev Shri Swami Vishvas Ji recites the similar sentiments in His holy voice:

ऐ वक्त गुजरदा जाँदा ऐ, हर इक नू रोज़ जगांदा ऐ
पर लक्खां विच्चों कोई विरला, मुल्ल वक्त दा पांदा ऐ

Precious and valuable time is passing by but one in million values the immense price of time.

A non-meditator or a man of world would take it as ‘Eat, Drink and be Merry’ but that cannot be the goal of life because each pleasure is followed by pain and joy by sorrow. Aim of life is to realize our Being which is All existent, All knowledge and All Bliss and beyond all the dual throng of joy and sorrow, happiness and misery. It is well beyond gloom and doom spread by the mind. Life is all misery, all Dukha and a sea of suffering.

A poet said:

“Tell me not in mournful numbers

Life is but our empty dream

Soul is dead that slumbers

And things are not what they seem”.

Swami Ram Tirth delivered a lecture in 1906. He said, “Rama assets; everyone is the Pious Self, God himself. Only know yourself. Leave aside slavery. Your own Self is the seat of eternal Bliss. If there is any source of happiness, it is your own Self. There is liberty, peace and eternal happiness. Remember that pleasure or happiness, by whatever process it may be brought about emanates from our inner Self. Happiness is within and not in external objects as ignorant persons are inclined to think”.

This Bliss is hidden by the adamantine wall of boisterous mind which is compared to a maddened monkey restless by nature, drunk with the wine of desires, stung by the Scorpio of jealousy at the success of others and possessed by the demon of pride. It is never here NOW. Its dwelling is either in past or in future. Either it is crying over dead horse or is building castles in future. It is a store house of all wayward thoughts, anxieties and worries. NOW, present is the death for mind because NOW is the abode of peace and Bliss whereas mind is shattered into pieces and is cause of stress and strain. Mind is continuously talking and thoughts are coming continuously from somewhere, nowhere and elsewhere.

Thoughts need space and the present ‘Now’ is too small for thoughts to jog around. So when we stay in present ‘Now’ thoughts diminish gradually and disappear eventually. We have the vision of our true Being.

Be here Now in your own Being without the ‘others’.

Other is mind

Other is thought

Other is body

Other is intellect

Other is breathing

Other is world

Being is with your own Being, your own true Self, which is All Bliss and All existence.

Meditation is a great blessing bestowed upon humanity by the saints, scriptures and by Gurudev Swami Vishvas Ji, which removes the wall and we get the true vision of our own Being:

ये सैर क्या है अजब अनोखा, कि राम मुझ में, मैं राम में हूँ

बगैर सूरत गजब है जलवा, कि राम मुझ में मैं राम में हूँ

Splendid and glamorous is the vision that I and my father are one. It is Now! There is no yesterday or to-morrow. It is only to-day. Self is here Now and not in seventh heaven or far, far away or in some unknown or secluded place. Infinite Bliss is present within.

मैं और मेरा यार एक ही बस्ती में बसते हैं

किस्मत की क्या खूबी है, कि दर्शन को तरसते हैं

I and He (God) live in the same place but due to the veil of ignorance, I cannot have His vision.

Present, Now is Parmataman, All the Buddhas have insisted, “Live in this moment totally. To live in this moment is MEDITATION. To be simply here now is Meditation. You are not thinking of past, you are not thinking of future but mind is continuously talking and if inner talk drops even for few minutes, you are able to have a glimpse of no-mind. That is the state of meditation.

That is the true state. Mind cannot create meditation. Meditation is going beyond mind. It is getting out of the mind. It is not at all controlling the mind because every control results the repression. It is not forcing the mind to be quiet. It is finding the quiet which is already there and which means Now!

अपनी न की पहचान, बड़ी चूक यह हुई

बरसों किये ख़राब, ख़ुदा तलाश में हमने

The greatest blunder we made was that we did not make an effort to know ourselves. In vain, we wasted years and years in search of God.

Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment.

– Alan Watts

The purpose of meditation is to be of the present, nothing but in the present to bear this mindfulness of now into each event of ordinary life.

– Peter Matthieseen

So be here Now!
